Kitchen beauty hacks for natural affordable skincare

If your kitchen pantry is regularly well stocked, then you are probably missing out on a range of kitchen beauty hacks that will take you seconds to put together, but leave your skin looking flawless.

So, we’ve put together our 5 favourite hacks for healthy skin using completely natural ingredients.

  1. Honey

Honey is naturally antibacterial and ant-inflammatory. This means not only is it good for preventing pimples, but it also helps calm any breakouts you might have.

To help with combatting those pesky spots, apply as a direct spot treatment. Take a small amount of honey and dab it on your pimples and leave overnight. By morning your skin will have thanked you.

If you suffer with larger breakouts then apply honey like a mask to the problem areas of your face and leave for 10-15 mins before washing off. This will help to unclog your pores as well as easing the redness.

 

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

This is one of our all-time favourite kitchen beauty hacks. Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) has been a long time praised ingredient in skincare as it acts as a chemical exfoliant. This means it helps to remove dead skin without the need for scrubbing harsh exfoliators onto your precious face.

Well, great news, apple cider vinegar contains AHA naturally! However, on it’s own it’s quite harsh so we recommend diluting with water in a 1:1 ratio. You may need to adjust this to contain more water if you have particularly sensitive skin.

Once diluted, apply to a cotton pad and wipe over your face as a toner post-cleanse. Do this 2-3 times a week and you’ll skin will be glowing in no time.

  1. Egg Whites

Now this kitchen beauty hack is perfect for more oily skin types. This is because egg whites are known to tighten the skin, which helps to close pores. This makes them less prone to getting clogged with dirt and therefore fewer blackheads, hurray!

To tame those pores, mix the white of an egg with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice (the skin benefits of lemon juice take this hack to another level) until combined and apply as a 10-15 minute mask.

  1. Coconut Oil

You may have already heard about how brilliant coconut oil is as a cleanser. However, did you also know about the benefits of using this ingredient for your teeth?

Coconut oil can be used for oil pulling. If you haven’t heard of this process before it’s where oil is used to literally “pull” the dirt and grime from your teeth which leaves them looking cleaner and whiter over time.

All you need to do is swish 1 tbsp. of the oil around your mouth daily for around 10 minutes and over time you’ll definitely see and feel the benefits.

 

  1. Sugar

Our final kitchen beauty hack sees us using coconut oil again, but this time mixed with sugar. By mixing equal parts oil to sugar you can create a super simple, yet natural and effective scrub.

This might be too harsh for your face if you have sensitive skin, however this makes a luxurious body scrub. Make it feel more like a spa treatment by adding a few drops of your favourite essential oils.
